Achieve Balance Counselling

About Kim Kendall

Meet Kim Kendall, MACP, RCC, BCRPT

My approach to counselling is grounded in creating a nurturing environment which fosters healing and growth, enabling clients to overcome barriers and lead meaningful, authentic lives.

Understanding the overwhelming nature of stress, anxiety, and trauma, especially when facing big emotions and life transitions, is crucial. You and your child are not alone in this journey. Since 2000, my experience in various roles has equipped me with the skills to guide children, youth, and their families through these challenges. My approach integrates evidence-based methods like Synergetic Play Therapy, Neuroscience and Satir in the Sand Tray, EMDR, and more, offering a range of interventions to suit your unique needs.

I work with children, youth, parents/caregivers, and adults. With over 20 years of experience working with children and youth who have developmental delays and/or are neurodivergent and their parents/caregivers, I specialize in working with these clients.

Together, we can work towards regaining balance and discovering your authentic self in a supportive, therapeutic environment.

In addition to my counselling work, I am also excited to provide clinical supervision and clinical consultation to counselling students and other professionals in the field.

Nurturing Your Journey Towards Emotional Healing and Authentic Living

Why I Care

I have a very distinct memory from when I was a young child of hiding and singing the song, “Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I think I’m going to eat some worms.” I remember feeling very sad and alone. I was blessed to grow up in a loving family, and although these feelings would pop up from time to time, they never stayed for too long. And yet, I know how it feels to have such intense, big feelings. I believe that it was experiences such as this that have guided me toward being the counsellor that I am today.

I know first-hand how hard it can be to seek out counselling, and I know how hard the internal work really is. I also know that putting the work into my emotional well-being has been totally worth it. I want the same for you and your family. I’m committed to providing you with exceptional care that takes you as a whole person into account. Together we will work to help your child, you, and your family live the life you’ve always wanted.

My guiding principles

My approach to working with children, youth, and adults is grounded in the principles of empathy, warmth, non-judgment, and attunement. Understanding and connecting with clients through empathy ensures they feel truly heard. Warmth and a non-judgmental attitude are vital for building trust and a safe space for growth. Attunement ensures that I am with you in whatever is happening in the moment-to-moment changes within the session which helps to ease anxieties and allows for growth and change to happen. These core values guide my practice, creating a nurturing and supportive space for my child, youth, and adult clients to explore and heal.

Empathy

I work hard to see things from my client's point of view and put myself in their shoes.

Non-judgment

We all have our own life experiences and I will meet you where you are at and together we can figure out the best way forward.

Warmth

I strive to create a place where each client knows that they welcome and belong here.

Attunement

Based on witnessing and responding to what is happening for you within the counselling session.
