About Natasha Gulati
Meet Natasha Gulati – Counselling Intern
I’m Natasha Gulati, a counselling intern at Achieve Balance Counselling in Chilliwack, supporting children, youth, and families with compassion, understanding, and evidence-informed strategies. With over 10 years of experience working with children and youth with Autism, neurodiversities, and developmental differences, I bring a wealth of knowledge, empathy, and practical skills to my counselling practice. My goal is to create a safe, attuned, and empowering environment where children and youth can explore their emotions, develop coping skills, and grow in confidence, self-awareness, and resilience.
Collaborative Work with Families and Caregivers
I place a strong emphasis on collaboration with caregivers, recognizing that families play a critical role in the growth and development of children and youth. I provide practical tools, strategies, and guidance that support families beyond the counselling session, helping them foster emotional regulation, communication, and positive relationships at home and in school settings. By partnering with caregivers, I ensure that the benefits of counselling extend into everyday life, creating a consistent and supportive environment for growth. I strive to help families feel confident and empowered in their role while reinforcing the strategies we explore in sessions.

Experience with Schools and Multidisciplinary Teams
My background as a Behavioural Consultant has allowed me to work closely with the schools, educators, and multidisciplinary teams working with neurodivergent children and youth. This experience strengthens my ability to coordinate support for children and youth across home, school, and community environments. By ensuring that interventions are aligned, I maximize the effectiveness of therapy and create consistency for children as they navigate multiple settings. Collaborating with teachers, occupational and speech therapists, and other professionals allows me to integrate practical strategies that support learning, social connection, and emotional regulation in all aspects of a child’s life.
Trauma-Informed and Child-Centered Approach
I bring a calm, relational, and attuned presence to every counselling session. I understand that each child and youth has a unique nervous system and developmental profile, and I tailor my approach to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and empowering. My sessions focus on relationship, co-regulation, and attunement, helping clients feel understood and validated as they explore their internal experiences. By integrating trauma-informed and client-centered principles, I ensure that children and youth feel safe to express themselves authentically and develop the tools they need to navigate challenges.
Integrating Play Therapy and Evidence-Based Strategies
I incorporate play therapy techniques into my counselling work, allowing children to express emotions and explore experiences in a natural and meaningful way. Play provides children with a language that feels familiar, enabling them to develop coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and emotional awareness. Alongside play, I use evidence-based strategies tailored to each child’s strengths, needs, and learning style, ensuring that interventions are practical, achievable, and meaningful for both the child and their caregivers.
Strengths-Based, Holistic, and Empowering Practice
Whether I’m working with children individually, supporting youth in transition, or collaborating with families, my focus remains on strengths-based, relational, and holistic practice. I am passionate about helping children, youth, and families develop emotional awareness, build resilience, and enhance overall wellbeing. I aim to create a collaborative environment where children feel supported, families feel empowered, and growth is sustained across all areas of life.
I am excited to be part of the team at Achieve Balance Counselling in Chilliwack and look forward to walking alongside clients on their journey toward greater self-understanding, confidence, and meaningful connection.
